George Kachinsky

George Kachinsky is a pianist and composer. As a composer, George is a continuation of the Romantic composer line of the 19th century (Chopin, Schubert, Brahms, also Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff) and an amazing melodist, which is nowadays a rare phenomenon. This is his success as a composer.

His musical career is very surprising and idiosyncratic. George was born on March 4, 1986 in Georgia and spent his childhood in Hungary. Since childhood he was attracted to the arts, which resulted in winning several Hungarian language and literature competitions or lead to international exhibitions like in Paris, France, receiving prizes and awards for his paintings.

His life completely changed after an international piano competition in Tbilisi, Georgia, which lead to the decision to devote himself entirely to music. George began to play the piano by ear, not notes and scores. The program of his entrance exams at the College of Music No.3 in Tbilisi was L. W. Beethoven-Sonata op.57 no.23 "Appassionata", F. Liszt-"Hungarian Rhapsody" no.2, R. Lagidze-"Rondo-toccata", J. S. Bach-Prelude and Fugue es-moll, volume I, Chopin Etude op.10 no.12 "Revolutionary". In 2007 he joined the V. Sarajishvili Tbilisi State Conservatory, where he studied in the class of Prof. Nana Khubutia. Later his teacher became Prof. Manana Gotsiridze.

In 2014 George became a laureate at the Chamber Music Competition and was awarded a special prize for the best performance of Georgian music. He was awarded a scholarship by the President of Georgia as one of the successful students and the Ministry of Culture of Georgia awarded him a diploma as a young teacher who has successfully conducted master classes for students in Tbilisi.

As a composer George began to write during his studies at the Conservatory. His first work was Concerto for violin and orchestra Op.1 f-moll. In 2018 his concert "Chamber concert – George Kachinsky composer in portrait" was held in Vienna. In 2019, with director Irina Gachechiladze, the project "The Telephone, L'amour a trois. A one act comic opera in English by Gian Carlo Menotti" was performed successfully at the Wiener Volkstheater, Austria, followed by a performance with great success in Bratislava, Slovakia.

In 2019 George Kachinsky was the first Georgian composer who became a member of the "Union of Austrian Composers" – a personal success, and a success for Georgia. In 2020 he held with great success an evening in the hall of Brahms in the Vienna State Philharmonic so-called "Musikverein", where his cycle-trio for soprano, flute and piano - "Slavic Pictures" Op.17 and trio for piano, cello and flute "Amadeus" Op.13 – the last of which George wrote in Vienna, in the house-museum of W. A. Mozart and dedicated to him – was performed.

His Prof. Dr. Michaela Preiner stated: “George Kachinsky is an incredibly talented pianist of brilliant virtuosity, has excellent taste in music and is a very sensitive romantic musician with an incredible variety of sounds. I would describe him as a poet of the piano, captivating the audience and opening the door to the absolutely magical and mysterious world of classical music.”

Today George lives in Vienna – the City which gives him inspiration to this day – and leads an active creative life as composer and pianist.
