Misho Kandashvili

Georgian pianist Misho Kandashvili always impresses with a combination of delicacy and strength, a breathtaking technique and musical sensitivity. Misho began playing piano at the age of 7 and entered Tbilisi Art School Anastasia Virsaladze, where he was in the class of Irina Boterashvili. He won the “Contest of Georgia” as well as numerous national competitions and was the first to perform the Bach Concerto No. 3 in Georgia. At the Ksenia Jikia Art School, he joined the class of Lali Burdzanadze.

At the age of 14 he played Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Georgian National Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Revaz Takidze at the Tbilisi National Music Center. He performed Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in the Tbilisi Conservatory Grand Hall, and also became laureate at the International Festival of Young Musicians and Performers in Yerevan. After graduating from the Tbilisi Central Music School in 2012 with Prof. Mzia Gogashvili, he moved to Vienna (Austria) to study with Prof. Tamara Atschba.

In 2016 he won the 1st Prize at the "Great Composers Competition Series" in several categories. In 2017 he won a prize at the XXII Ibiza International Piano Competition. He was invited to the "Next Generation" concert series in Windeck (Germany), followed by an invitation to perform the Tchaikovsky Concerto in the Khmelnytskyi Philharmonic (Ukraine). In summer 2017 Misho graduated with congratulations from the jury at Prayner Conservatory.

During his student years he took part in a number of master-classes and worked with various renowned pianists such as Elisabeth Leonskaja, Lilya Zilberstein, Paul Lewis, Jean-Bernard Pommier. Since 2016 funded by the Esperus Art Fund, Misho played solo evenings or with orchestras in concert halls such as the Blüthner Zentrum, the Bösendorfer Hall in Vienna's Mozart House, Ehrbar Hall, Khmelnytskyi Philharmonic and more.
